There was an old woman, who lived in a house,
not out to the west, but down in the south,
she had some fine daughters, no dog but 2 cats,
6 pairs of shoes and a couple of hats.
She’d had a great husband, but alas he was dead
she’d built a secondhand house and little garden shed,
she was cuddly and round, with a crop of grey hair
she had a small silver car that she drove everywhere.
This little old woman, who lived with the cats
thought that it would be good if she could chat
with a man who might like her, and find her attractive
or failing that, might have funny narrative
She signed up online, and clicked all the boxes
she narrowed it down to weed out old foxes
but alas and alack, it just didn’t work
because all that she found was a big bunch of jerks!

Was thinking about this again just recently … and I was tidying up my blog last night and stumbled across this post … good reminder of why I am single.

As long as you can laugh about it you’re doing just fine!

Beautifully put … they are rare, the good ones. In my case I kissed multiple frogs and married two jerks before giving up on the whole thing for years and being more surprised than anyone when my husband barged into my life and swept me off my feet (protesting loudly – me!) My years on my own were sometimes very lonely but sharing with a frog is far worse!!

I agree. I have been sngle now for 1 years, can’ really imagine it being any other way, but once in a while I think “what if”. Online is scoffed at, but my life doesn’t actually bring me into contact with eligible men very often.

I once asked my eldest daughter how she thought I might meet a suitable man as she was so anti online …. Hang about in bars? She conceded after that. I know many who have found real forever happiness online dating so I do not scoff and I do believe it’s never to late – I was 51 and HB2 59 when we met βΊοΈ

All the frogs have given us Knights In Shining Armour a bad name — Damn those amphibians!
