The Tune Remembered

Eyes shut
fingers fumble
numbers forgotten
I cannot dial the phone
I search
desperately
longing to hear
a voice gone silent
waking after dreams
the melody lingers
I face reality
a single life
my cage
I can only sing the tune remembered

    1. Hope it wasn’t a discordant chord. A plaintive chord is how it feels to me.
