The DEED is DONE

my hair is gone
and fallen
upon the salon floor
black & grey
fine curly strands
adorn my head no more.

I feel quite liberated
like a weight has been removed
I could dance the light fandango
and get right in the groove
I highly recommend it
being bald’s the way to go.

  2. Wow, I’m so impressed. I don’t think I could do it, I must be too vain. Now that’s a disconcerting thought because there’s little point to vanity at my age. Well done you! 🙂

    1. Thanks Juli. It really was a liberating moment for me (maybe because I was sick of my hair at that length) and I had no worries or hesitations sitting in the chair.

  3. I can’t imagine how that must feel. Liberating is a great word to describe it. 🙂

    1. Actually Kat, since there still is little bit of hair there it feels FUZZY, like velcro, when I touch it. Now that is a weird feeling.

      1. Hmmm I bet that fuzzy feeling would be weird.

        1. it is extremely weird. My daughter keeps coming and rubbing my head – just to see the faces I pull!

    1. I see, you look fab Hugh. Thanks for your support, the Leukaemia Foundation does great work with research, and I am proud that as a team we have raised over $3000 dollars in the last 3 weeks (most of that was my Mum’s doing).

      1. That’s brillaint news. Well done to all of you and everyone else who raised money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Now begs the question, will you keep your hair like that, grow it back to how you had it before the cut, or go for a completely different hairstyle all together?

        1. Oh, I think I could rock the bald look 🙂 but will probably grow it back short. Just before it was shaved it was really bugging me, so whilst i love the IDEA of long hair, permanently No.
But I am Woman, so i reserve the prerogative to change my mind.

  10. Reblogged this on to search and to find and commented:

It’s that time of year again – Shave Time! This reblogged post shows what I looked like last year, and the poem I wrote about the experience.
March 12th is the date this year, and if you would like to donate to a very worthy cause, please do so here
