They changed the peanut butter
my life has now been ruined
there is no consolation
for tastebuds that were tuned
to just the perfect texture
of crunchy nuts in goo
so give me back my homebrand
’cause I don’t know what to do.

I’ve tried the other labels
they’re too sloppy or too dry
they don’t have that piquant flavour
it makes me want to cry
there is no taste sensation
for my white bread anymore
my consumer satisfaction
I would rate as very poor.

Oh bring me back my homebrand
it was cheap but tasted good
oh bring back my peanut butter
my main essential type of food
you can keep your big name brands
your oily smooth, and banal crunch
just give me back my homebrand
so I can enjoy my lunch.

  1. Oh poor baby! as for me I love Kraft! Not the crunchy one, the lovely smooth easily spread and tastes great one! Crunchy is very good for peanut butter balls though isn’t it? I’ve been a Kraft fan since that wonderful box of goodies was sent me after I found the piece of over-baked peanut that came off the machine and ended up in my jar of peanut butter.

    1. Tell me more about these peanut butter balls… I don’t think I’ve ever had one. P-butter cookies are good though

      1. I’ll get my Mum to send the recipe, but basically they are peanut butter and something else dipped in chocolate.

  4. :, ( awww you poor thing!! That’s terrible! I hope you find a suitable replacement soon. *hugs*
It’s amazing how many different types there are.. We used to buy it in 5 or 10kg tubs, and that’s a lot to get through if you buy the wrong one….
These days, I don’t eat [quite] as much so the 500g jars are ok (also, no one here eats it – strange people, Germans – so it’s rare and hideously expensive when you DO come across it – mostly in miniature jars (150g)) Astonishingly, considering how the Germans don’t eat the stuff, the crunchy Lidl (UK) one is pretty good, smidgeon too sweet, but otherwise fine. I stock up when I go home (or when people come to visit).

Can’t imagine life without it anyway

    1. Thanks for your hugs, peanut butter deprivation is affecting my emotional balance at the moment.
The stupid supermarket now only has 2 brands = and I don’t like either. Think I will have to go to a new supermarket with hope in my heart.
I can’t imagine a country without peanut butter – Germans must be very strange (in a nice way, of course).

  5. Haaa! I have the same attachment to my brand of tea, don’t know what I’ll do if it changes or disappears.

    1. lately the supermarket just seems to be deleting all the thing is like – this is just the most important item so far 🙂

  6. Oh love it Claudette. Hope you find your favourite again soon. I remember a holiday in Europe when our girls were little and the cereal just didn’t taste right, even though it was same global brand. Perhaps it was the milk? but oh what a dilemma for the two weeks.

  7. Hmmm.. If all else fails, maybe you could try
making peanut butter yourself ? Then you could tweak to find the perfect crunch in goo.. 💛

  8. Do you have a Countdown store near you ? They show homebrand peanutbutter as an item they carry online and stock in the stores..
