My New Business

Hi, just wanting to share my website for my new self-employment business venture.

I’ve just moved it here to WordPress, and I still need to do a little bit of tweaking to get it exactly how I want it, but that is the reason I came to WordPress, as at least here I CAN do that here, being familiar with WP quirks.

Although it is only relevant to a small part of a small state of a small piece of the world, it’s always nice to share things we are excited about.

Anyway, if you want to have a look, my site is called A Handful of Time.  I would love to get some constructive feedback if you feel so inclined.

Thanks           name-badge

  3. Just popped over to your website. The pages are crisp and attractive, and the message crystal clear. What a good idea. I especially like the different blocks of time. Elderly people, for one, often have a range of ‘little jobs’ that consistently crop up, ones that may have a big impact on their lives, but don’t necessarily take someone else very long to sort out. Hope this flies!

    1. Thanks for the feedback Tish. Sometimes it is hard to know if the message you think you are sending is actually what others receive. Yes, you are right, often a little job is BIG to the person who wants it done, and tradespeople often do want little jobs, so hopefully I can help.

      1. Hi Claudette thanks for your lovely words. All is well. We’ve bought a macadamia farm in northern NSW so a change of scenery and job for me. We are trying to keep everything going pkus paint the beautiful old house on the property. It’s an old queenslander so it’s been very hectic. Hopefully next year I will get my act together and come back to my blog and wonderful friends Ive made there. I hope all is well with you xx

        1. Wow, that sounds good, but lots of hard work I suspect. I can understand why you don’t have time to blog 🙂 P.S I love macadamias and usually eat some everyday, perhaps somewhere in the mix they might have come from your farm.

      2. It took a large semi and then two tilt tray truck runs to get Chris’s tractors to their new home. They are currently jammed into every nook and cranny on the farm.

        1. Makes me smile just thinking about it, but I bet the tractors appreciate it. 😉

    1. Yeah, it is strange the impressions we get in our mind about someone we have never met. I imagine voices for people, and I am sure that I would get a shock if I actually heard them speak.

      1. Exactly! Although I am more surprised at my own voice, the way it sounds outside my head… (listened to a recording the other day). Also, having listened to the radio for most of my life, seeing the singers/speakers/important people on TV is a weird experience, mostly I’d imagined them differently too..

        1. Know what you mean about your own voice – always weirds me out when I hear mine on messagebank.

  10. It’s a wonderful idea and you should trademark that name because I can see you able to franchise down the line if you so desired. The website is excellent – just the right balance of pretty and clear. I’d buy some time if you were a little closer

    1. Hi Osyth, thanks for having a like and saying such nice things. 🙂 I’m glad you think it has the right balance, because that is what I am striving for, something not too business, a bit of colour, a bit of happy. Think there is still a little more I will do to it, but the bones are ok.
Perhaps, one day, I can be franchised internationally, and you can be my first international customer 🙂 Just let me know which country you are currently residing in when that happens. Have a wonderful day.

  18. Hi – well i checked out your new site and I like the rich color in the border. I also really liked the simplicity – the menu was right there and being new to visit your other blog, Ihad no idea what anything was about – but by the time I left your site – it was clear. – and that is the goal – to be clear and concise – and by the way – your business seems like it can be of a great help to many people – best wishes in all of it. 🙂

  22. Claudette,

Congratulations on taking that important step of starting your new business. Now that it has been a couple months how is it going? Are you facing any challenges like finding new clients? When I started my first business I was surprised how many things about running a business I didn’t know even though I had worked as a manager for 12 years. It is a wonderful experience though. Are you planning on expanding the business or just provide work for yourself?

    Sincerely,
    Jamie

    1. Thanks Jamie. I haven’t actually had any time to work the business as I was picked up my by old boss 2 weeks after quitting my job. She needed someone to do some clean up admin work where she is now CEO, and since I needed some income I agreed to do casual. Excuse – maybe, but I do need the income. I am hoping that the New Year will be the time I can concentrate on things, get out there and get a good client base. i only want to work enough to support myself, I don’t want to expand. Thanks for your interest, I;ll be sure to keep an eye on your blog for tips and info.

      1. Claudette,

Personally I think you are very wise to keep working until you build a client base. Just be careful you don’t wait to long to take action. Thanks for the support on my Blog, is there a subject you would like to learn about that we can write for you?

        All the best,

        Jamie
