I had a dream – again. (Repost: A Dream and a Wish)

It happened again last night, it must be this time of year,
that prompts a rummage through my unconscious,
and in amongst the rubble, finding a flicker of a thought,
pounces, and drags it forth,
to present, like a cats favour lying at my door,

sadly unwelcome but understood.

The original post below, which prompted the one above, is from 24 December 2014, and can be found here.

I had a dream of you last night,
I heard your voice, I saw your face,
and it woke again the yearning,
from it’s quietly slumbering place.

That desperate sense of needing,
which years have mercifully worn away,
the savage grief dispersed,
through life’s anaesthetising day.

And even though they carry sorrow,
I long to dream of you again,
to feel that fierce connection,
as you quietly say my name.

  1. It IS that time of year when these memories, so precious but so poignant, creep into our hearts.

  2. Oh Claudette how you rake my heart …. this time of year so acute in percolating the memories to the surface. Your sadness midst all the fervor of feasting to come is beyond poignant. I send you all the happy my little heart can muster, not to dampen what you feel – true love is never extinguished but just to add a little balm to your aching breaking heart ❤️

    1. I am not sad, as such, just a little missing, perhaps, a little wishing that it had been different. Ah, all is good. It is the tides of life, ebbing and flowing as they do. I have had a lovely Christmas Day with my little family, and my grandson fills my heart with smiles. I hope that yours is filled with much happiness, whatever, wherever, and with whomever you spend it. Much love.

    1. It does indeed seem to raise them. I hope your Day has/is wonderful (I can never get the hand of international time zones – to me it is THE day everywhere) 🙂

  5. I’m a bit behind in my reading, just catching up. This was lovely. Memories of the past, both pleasant and not, push themselves forward whether we like it or not, and you captured it perfectly.
