    My instant reaction, as a reader: Wonderful shot!

    My instant writerly reaction, considering this as a possibility for a story, rough-draft opening: “Lydia was very tired. to the point of exhaustion, but the brimming sunrise gave her the strength to stumble forward and place the locked box at the very edge of the lake, as she had promised to do all those years ago…”

      Oooh, liking this very much – please continue, so many possibilities for the backstory for Lydia.
      P.S. the water body in the pic is actually a river (The Huon River) – but i do always think it looks like a lake there, and now i am vindicated 🙂
