Wonderful Wednesday

“Because today, I think I’m leaning on the side of wonder.”
― Melina Marchetta, “Quintana of Charyn”

It’s easy to find wonder in just about anything – if you’re willing to look ….

Rusty Sentinel

I wonder, I wonder:  why are you there and what were you before?
I imagine Aliens invading, marching ashore,
or rocket-ships blasting off to explore,
was your metal skin shiny before rust ate your core?
I wonder, I wonder, just what you were.

  1. All those deliciously rusty layers, though it’s maybe perverse to find them quite so captivating. But then hey, you did too! 🙂

    1. Hi Tish – yes, rust is something that has a negative connotation generally – but in some circumstances is is beautiful and thought provoking. Glad you enjoyed my post.

    1. I don’t always, but lately I have been seeing the glory in it. (must be old age catching up with me and making me realise that I am rusting too).

  3. I love this thing – actually I instantly thought of Ned Kelly which is not entirely wonderful but of course the mind and the imagination are. Without a sense of wonder I do think that life must be terribly dull. I never want to lose mine 🙂

  4. Hmmm… I wonder how much “rust” is accumulating on me now I’m “older”? {Better not think about that maybe} Rust is not my favourite look, but I did like the words of the post, and the background of the “rusty rocket ship” was lovely. Blast off for some more wonder, it keeps our minds, hearts and spirits alive and lively! And the world is full of things to wonder at isn’t it?

    1. Indeed in it. I’m sure no rust has accumulated on you – you are always too busy for it to stick 🙂
