Eyes shut
fingers fumble
numbers forgotten
I cannot dial the phone
I search
desperately
longing to hear
a voice gone silent
waking after dreams
the melody lingers
I face reality
a single life
my cage
I can only sing the tune remembered

“longing to hear a voice gone silent…” Your words strike a chord. I like this a lot.

Hope it wasn’t a discordant chord. A plaintive chord is how it feels to me.

I OFTEN dream of not being able to operate a phone. It’s so frustrating! (I know that’s not really what this is about.)

In a way it is. I do have this dream, and I believe it is a symbol of the fact that I can’t “find” him, but it is always a phone the evokes the worst feelings
