Autumn is not just Yellow

Autumn Red

Autumn contrasts, Red and Grey,
a chilly breeze on a sunny day
a burst of colour as wind blows leaves
the starry night as Summer grieves
a puff of breath in the chilly morn
the sharpness of light from a sky, cloud shorn
although I regret the passing of days
the changing seasons always amaze.

Season of the Rhyme

01/07/2014Claudette4 Comments

gurgling
burbling
smiling little face

innocent
happiness
oblivious to fate

loving
sorrow
seasons of the rhyme

ageing
raging
begrudging passing time

yearning
returning
to an earlier youth

facing
accepting
life’s eternal truth

growing
decaying
earth’s recycling plan

rising
falling
the history of man

It is Not

Feathers breaking,
dreams unseen,
a heart dissolved in rich, red wine.

An empty home,
a memory lost,
the seasons circling endlessly.

The maelstroms’ eye,
each fallen leaf,
a spider spinning her new web.

All is louder still,
than this endless,
silent scream.

"Persistence" Huon Pine, Botanics & Resin
Prepping this one today for finishing.
The start of some legs for the coffee table. Using recycled iron from my old dining chairs, a fence railing that I burnt and brushed off, and they will be finished with a wider Huon Pine base and top foot.
A recent commission.
Huon Pine Botanical Resin Inlay
Think I've found the base for this piece ... an old piece of weathered fence!
Not everything always works out like you hoped. These legs I made just don't work with this tabletop. I think they should have been chunkier, and placed further in from the edge. The only way I can tolerate them (until I make something else) is to put them back over the side table to top sat on before I made the legs!
This piece has a big strand of my hair in it, which I didn't notice until it had cured, so it can't be sold. Finding homes for "mistake" pieces has become harder as my home fills up with my "I love you" pieces, but this round seems happy here (and I can't see the hair unless I really look for it!).
I am really glad that #luciclearepoxy has such a long pot life, as I mucked around with this for over 1.5 hours trying to get it to something that I was ok with. So many flowers went in the bin because it just wasn't working. I'm still only about 80% happy with it, but this 2nd piece in my @resinbuddy form is now underway.
